Californian rockers Thrice are heading to Bristol's O2 Academy this October as part of a co-headling tour with Refused.

The date, follows the release of Thrice's 10th studio album, Palms last September.

Lead singer, Dustin Kensrue said he came up with the idea for the album after waking in the middle of the night and being fixated on the idea of an open hand.

He said: "I got up and started listing off all the things an open palm represented, especially as opposed to the idea of a closed hand or a fist, that became the basis of the record: that feeling of being open.

"The album came from a place of trying to combat the hate and bigotry we're seeing in the world, but attempting to do it in a way that's not divisive."

Thrice play the O2 Academy, in Frogmore Lane, on October 29, at 6.30pm.

Tickets, priced £34.50, are available on 01179 279227 or www.academymusicgroup.com
