THE Weston brass band tuned their trumpets on the weekend and performed in the bandstand marathon in Grove Park.

Hundred of people turned up to watch the 25 talented players take part in the show as part of the Cultural Olympiad. This is designed to give everyone in the UK a chance to be part of London 2012 and inspire forms of creativity in all age groups.

Percussionist David Farmer, aged 65, of Moor Lane, Worle, said: “There was a really good atmosphere and a lot of people from the audience came up to say they really enjoyed it.

“We had worked hard for the concert and it was a really good day.”

The bandstand marathon is organised by the not-for-profit agency Superact, based in Somerset and uses bandstands and public spaces for these events.

Clevedon brass band also performed in the Manor Gardens in Burnham and 150 other venues across the UK gave performances for the occasion.
