The sounds of one of the most iconic pop groups of the 1980s will be recreated in Weston-super-Mare later in the month, and Mercury readers will win tickets to the show.
The Best Of Wham! will be performed at the Playhouse, in High Street, on November 28 at 7.30pm.
George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley formed the group in 1981 and in the space of four years Wham! sold more than 28 million records, topping the charts with three albums, four number one singles and 11 top 10 hits.
They featured in the Live Aid concert of 1985 and were the first western pop group to tour China.
The duo are widely respected for their impact and influence on music in both the 1980s and modern day eras.
All the famous hits including Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Freedom, Club Tropicana and I’m Your Man will be performed, as will a few B side favourites and a couple of early George Michael bonus songs.
With vocals, choreography, costumes and a live band, The Best of Wham! is a musical journey which truly recaptures the full Wham! experience.
The show was created by Sweeney Entertainments, co-founded by Julie and Peter Sweeney, which has provided touring shows for theatres across the UK for more than 16 years.
Julie cannot wait to visit the resort in a couple of weeks’ time.
She said: “We are thrilled to be presenting this show to venues across the UK, including Weston.
“It is a party which is sure to leave audiences singing and dancing the whole way home.”
Tickets, priced £26, are available online at www.theplayhouse.co.uk or on 01934 645544.
The Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse to offer two readers a pair of tickets to the show.
