Festival season hits Weston-super-Mare’s Tropicana

A wide variety of food and drink events will take place at Weston’s iconic seafront landmark in 2018.

The Tropicana, in Marine Parade, has set the stage for four tempting events in the next four months.

Great British Gin Festival

Kicking things off will be the festival dedicated to all things gin on July 7 from 1-10pm.

Visitors can sip on an array of gins, with more than 100 from around the world available, while cocktail demos and a virtual reality gin distillery are also of offer.

The event includes a gin bible guide, talks from gin producers and live entertainment.

Tickets include entry, gin bible and a glass.

Vegan Fairs

Weston’s first vegan festival will roll into town in August.

Vegan Fairs takes place on August 5 from 10am-3pm and will allow people to explore the tasty delights of plant-based living.

The event will offer a delicious day out to enjoy guilt-free delights. There will also be talks, workshops, activities for kids and nutritional advice and support.

A food pairing party will return to the Trop after celebrating a sell-out year in 2017.

Pizza and prosecco

A match made in heaven, The Pizza And Prosecco Festival will have a variety of hot pizzas being served on September 8 and a whopping 20 different varieties of prosecco.

Tickets, priced £17.83-33.78, include a cocktail on arrival, a prosecco bible and a whole host of cheesy entertainment.

Rum and reggae

Get ready for the widest selection of rums and the smoothest selection of reggae when the Rum And Reggae Festival kicks off on October 13.

Take a rum-fuelled journey around the world with rare and specially crafted selections.

Entertainment includes music from live bands, reggae MCs, carnival dancers, steel drum performances and traditional Jamaican food.

Festival goers will be treated to a welcome rum punch and a rum atlas on arrival, with the event running from 1pm to midnight.

A spokesman for the Trop said: “We are thrilled to be included on the festival circuit for these high-profile events as we are constantly on the hunt for a wide diversity of fun and cultural activities.”
