A rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame band will be playing live for one night only in Weston later in the year.

The Drifters have been entertaining crowds across the globe for more than six decades.

Last year saw the group embark on a 65th anniversary tour but they will be back in Weston for more in November.

Some of the most recognisable songs ever recorded, including Saturday Night At The Movies, Come On Over To My Place, Stand By Me and Under The Boardwalk will be performed at The Playhouse.

While the line-up may have changed a bit over the years, the brilliance of The Drifters in concert remains undiminished.

Tina Treadwell's father George was instrumental in setting up the group in the mid-1950s and she has picked the group who today continue to bring joy to millions of fans.

Tina believes The Drifters' success shows no time of stopping any time soon.

She said: "I am very excited that following our 65th anniversary year we have a new show for the fans who we invite to join us in celebrating this incredible and everlasting story of The Drifters."

The Drifters will perform live at the Playhouse on November 6, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £29.50, are available at or from the box office on 01934 645544.

* The Mercury has teamed up with the Playhouse to offer two lucky readers a pair of tickets each.
