A FAMOUS face from one of the country's best-loved comedy series will be heading to Weston later this month to join Bond girls and other celebrities from the worlds of television and film.
The popular Stars Of Time Show will be held in town again this year, this time at The Helicopter Museum in Locking Moor Road.
John Challis, otherwise known as Boycie in the long-running and award-winning comedy show Only Fools and Horses, will be heading to the sci-fi event on July 31.
John spoke exclusively to the Mercury this week about his fond childhood memories of Weston, including trips to Birnbeck Pier.
He said: “I have fond memories of sitting on the beach in Weston and going on the old pier.
“I can’t wait to go to the Stars Of Time Show.
“I always wanted to play Doctor Who and was so jealous of Colin Baker as I played a different part in one of the series.
“I think it’s going to be a really fun day.
“I know Weston well and am playing Abanazar in Aladdin at The Playhouse this Christmas, it’s a smashing theatre.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the town again and during one of the visits I’ll definitely be visiting the new Grand Pier.”
Other celebrities who have signed up to appear at the sci-fi show include sixth Doctor Who Colin Baker, Bond girl in The Spy Who Loved Me, Caroline Munro, and companion to the second Doctor Who, Deborah Watling.
The brain behind the daleks, Terry Molloy, will be joined by a number of his creations on the day and there will also be the chance to get some autographs, see some collectables from classics like Star Wars and Star Trek, take a pleasure flight and try out some simulators.
The famous Delorean car from the Back To The Future films will also be making an appearance and there will be a top competition.
Tickets, priced £6-9.50, are available from The Helicopter Museum or MT Games in Meadow Street, Weston, or via www.starsoftime.co.uk
