DICK Whittington has been put under the spotlight and quizzed by students.More than 70 people studying performing arts at Weston College had the chance to speak to cast members and crew from the Playhouse pantomime Dick Whittington to gain an insight into the entertainment industry.During the hour-long session, each member of the panel gave a brief talk about their background and career to date, followed by questions from the students. Students listened as Anna Kumble, who played Alice Fitzwarren in the pantomime, discussed the highs and lows of being singer Lolly and her choice to change direction to become a children's TV presenter. King Rat Shaun Williamson explained that he started off as a postman before eventually getting into drama college and then landing the role of Barry Evans in EastEnders. Comic Jez Edwards told the audience that his first four years in television were spent as a tea boy.Having performed their own pantomime, Jack And The Beanstalk, before Christmas, many of the students were keen to find out how their professional counterparts approached this British tradition. Organiser Chris Radford said: "We have received a lot of positive feedback on the session from those involved and will hopefully be able to hold more in the future.
