NEW legislation meaning video games must carry more health warnings about epilepsy, has been welcomed by Weston MP John Penrose.

It signals an end to his four-year campaign after he was contacted by constituent Gaye Herford after her son suffered an attack

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, has issued guidelines on how games can be created with minimal risk of triggering an epilepsy attack.

John Penrose said he was ‘very pleased’ with the announcement and hoped that children would be able to play games safely.

He said: “The film and TV industries have had a set of guidelines in place for years, so I’m delighted that UK games developers have followed their example in such a responsible and sensible fashion.”

Dr Richard Wilson, chief executive office for TIGA, thanked Mr Penrose for his efforts.
