THE flags will be out in Portishead next week at a street party in the town.The Slade Road Action Group is holding its second street party on July 7 from 2.30-5.30pm in Slade Road.The get-together will feature a range of attractions including a jazz band and giant games in the children's corner.There will also be a fancy dress competition and a colouring contest which kicks off at 3.15pm.Revellers are being urged to dress up on one of three themes, 007, Summer Holiday or Around the World.At 4pm creative types will be able to take part in a craft workshop and at 4.15pm there will be music from Portishead Concert Band.There will also be a raffle and the chance for people to have their fortune told by Auntie Jill.Those visitors wanting to take a step back into the past will be able to look at the town in years gone by at a special display of photographs of Portishead.Slade Road Action Group chairman Councillor Reyna Knight said: "Last year the party was a roaring success and we expect this one to be even better. A street party is a great way for the local community to meet one another and there are activities planned for the young and the old."Anyone who has any pictures of the town that they want to lend to the display should contact Ciaran on 01275 849495.Free taxis are available to and from the street party and anyone who requires help in getting to the event should contact Doreen Bearsdley on 01275 848634 by July 6.Slade Road will also be closed during the event from 2.30-5.30pm. If the weather is bad, the party will be held at the Methodist Church hall in Ferndale Road.
