A LONDON dance company is set to jazz things up a little in Weston.Performing at The Playhouse for the ninth consecutive year, the London Studio Centre Jazz Dance Company will present a lively programme showcasing various dance styles, ranging from modern street dance and tap to contemporary jazz. Formed in 1996, the company provides professional performing and touring experiences for its final year students specialising in jazz theatre dance. Many members of the company have had extensive professional experience in commercial theatre and graduate students have appeared in West End shows including Cats, Saturday Night Fever, Fosse, West Side Story, Spamalot, Kiss Me Kate, Fame, Grease, Bombay Dreams, The Lion King and Starlight Express.Leading choreographers from the dance and theatre scene are involved with the show including Darren Charles, David Leighton, Sam McAvoy, Katie Pearson, Paul Roberts, Paul Robinson and Gareth Walker. The influence of jazz in musical theatre is demonstrated in the show by a performance staged by choreographer Gary Lloyd and West End musical director John Rigby.The London Studio Centre Jazz Dance Company will take to the stage on July 4.
