AN EXCLUSIVE tour by The Russian State Ballet of Siberia will be visiting Bristol's Hippodrome with performances of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.
The company will be bringing to life these world famous, beautiful ballets with its exquisite traditional productions.
Based in Krasnoyarsk, the group has become established as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies.
Its exquisite dancers will be performing one of the most famous of fantasy ballets – The Nutcracker – which is set at nightfall on Christmas Eve.
When midnight strikes the audience is swept away to a fairytale world where toy dolls spring to life and the Mouse King and his army battle with the Nutcracker Prince. The audience then travels through the Land of Snow to an enchanted place where the magic really begins.
The ballet company will also grace the Hippodrome’s stage with the greatest romantic ballet of all time, Swan Lake.
The show is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable music. This compelling tale of tragic romance has it all, exquisite ensemble pieces and breath-taking solos.
The contrast of Odile, the temptress in black who seduces the Prince by spinning with captivating precision, to the spellbinding purity of the swan queen, Odette, as she flutters with emotional intensity, is one of ballet’s most remarkable technical challenges.
The Russian State Ballet of Siberia will present Swan Lake from January 8-9 at 7.30pm and The Nutcracker from January 10 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £10-39.50, are available from the box office on 0844 8713012.
