SIX local actresses made amateur theatre history when they performed Tim Firth's Calendar Girls at Weston's Playhouse theatre.
The show, which was staged for just one day, also raised £5,620 for the Bristol branch of the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research charity.
Director Robbie Burns said: “The audience reaction to the show was so wonderful. To hear a packed house laughing and crying was amazing. They even gave a standing ovation at the curtain call.”
Jo Bray, from the Bristol office of Leukaemia Research, said: “Raising that amount of money on one day is amazing and the show was one we will not forget.
“The actresses played their parts with compassion and realism, they made us laugh and cry and as the first amateur productions we have seen, we were truly astounded by the talent.”
