A COLLEGE graduate is living her dream with performances in a London theatre show.
Sasha Latoya graduated from Weston College this summer and got through a gruelling audition process to land a part in the musical Rent at the Greenwich Theatre.
The 22-year-old, from Uphill, has spent six days a week rehearsing an ensemble part in the Tony and Pulitzer prize-winning play.
It will run until September 16.
The former Broadoak school pupil first started at the college at the age of 17 and achieved her national diploma in performing arts, followed by a foundation degree in musical theatre and a BA honours top-up course offered in partnership with Bath Spa University.
She said: “It was a tough audition process but I managed to land a part in the ensemble, which I was delighted about.
“My lecturers were always realistic about this industry but they didn’t dash anyone’s hopes.
“I see now how well we were taught and I’d advise anyone who wants a career on the stage to see what Weston College can offer.”
Musical theatre lecturer Andy Collyer helped Sasha prepare for her audition.
He said: “Sasha has been an amazing and very dedicated student throughout the course, and I am not surprised that she has made such a great start to her professional career.”
