A ONE-man dark comedy will be performed in Bristol this July, when Diary Of A Madman visits the Brewery Theatre.

Considered by many to be Nikolai Gogol’s best work, the play is set in St Petersburg, Russia, in the 1830s and focuses on the character of Poprishchin who is driven insane by government bureaucracy and hierarchy.

His reality spirals deeper into a surreal fantasy world where dogs talk and write love letters and his bosses are mad and hell-bent on destroying him.

But a final, thrilling discovery suddenly allows him to make sense of the chaos.

Diary Of A Madman will be at the Tobacco Factory’s Brewery Theatre, North Street, on July 5-6 at 8.15pm.

Tickets, priced £8-11, are available from the box office by calling 01179 020344 or online at www.tobaccofactorytheatre.com
