AN ACCLAIMED theatre company will be bringing one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies to an al fresco Somerset setting next week.

Gloucestershire’s Festival Players will be performing Twelfth Night at Glastonbury Abbey next Thursday (August 16).

The show is part of a 38-date tour also taking in dates in London, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway.

The play was written around 1601, and centres on a complex love triangle laced with mistaken identity and intrigue.

Lovers Viola and Duke Orsino, Feste the jester and Sir Toby Belch are some of the Bard’s most memorable characters, and will all be brought to life by the artistic direction of Michael Dyer.

However, just six actors will play all the roles – meaning some quickfire costume changes are guaranteed.

The show begins at 7.30pm, and tickets – priced at £12, or £10 for over-60s and under-16s – can be booked on 01458 831631.
