A FARCICAL black comedy, immortalised in a classic movie, will be brought to life by Hutton Drama Club this weekend.

The club will hold its production of Arsenic and Old Lace tomorrow (Fri) and Saturday at 7.30pm at the village hall in Church Lane.

The production is based on Joseph Kesselring’s play, which revolves around Mortimer Brewster, a drama critic who must deal with his crazy, homicidal family and the local police as he debates whether to marry the woman he loves.

The unfolding drama features Brewster’s two murderous spinster aunts – known for their habit of murdering lonely old men by poisoning them with win laced with arsenic, strychnine and cyanide – and his equally appalling brothers.

It was brought to the silver screen in 1944 in a film featuring Cary Grant.

The performance is directed by Louis Clarke.

Tickets, priced £7-8, are available on 01934 823682 or on the door.
