FANS of the great stage musicals are in for a special treat on February 3 at The Playhouse, Weston, with the return of top show Beyond the Barricade.A concert tribute to the best West End and Broadway shows, it will feature past principal performers from the legendary hit musical, Les Miserables.Performing songs from The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Tell Me On A Sunday, Blood Brothers and a host of others, the show climaxes with a rousing selection from Les Miserables.This evening of musical theatre was originally thought up by David Fawcett and Andy Reiss as a series of charity concerts for MENCAP and its success sparked huge public demand. The show, which features four talented vocalists ably supported by accomplished musicians, now tours the country playing to packed houses.David Fawcett spent two years in West End production of Les Miserables playing Brujon, the Bishop of Digne, and the leading role of Jean Valjean. He has also spent 13 months in the Manchester production and appeared in the 10th anniversary concert at the Royal Albert Hall in 1995. David's other roles include Jesus in the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell, the Emcee in Cabaret and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.Andy Reiss appeared in the first resident season of Les Miserables in Manchester, where he worked with the shows original director John Caird and became resident director when it transferred to Dublin and Edinburgh.
