THE story of seven women who formed a travelling theatre company will be bought to life in Backwell next month.Avon Association of Drama will present this year's summer production, 'We Happy Few' by Imogen Stubbs at Backwell Playhouse on July 14 and 15.The play was first performed in 2003 and is based on the true story of the group of women who formed a travelling theatre company know as the Osiris Players.Formed in the 1930s, the company continued to tour the length and breadth of the British Isles until the 1960s. The play centres on the war years 1939 to 1945, the difficulties encountered in forming the company and the problems of presenting many different plays as a touring production, in a different hall each time.An Avon Association of Drama spokesman said: "Set against the tragic wartime background, their adventures are often hilarious, sometimes sad and always uplifting."For ticket details contact 0117 9853631 or 01275 855487.
