A classic Broadway and West End musical will make its debut at the Theatre Royal Bath this week.
The Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society presents Neil Simon’s musical comedy Sweet Charity.
The show will be packed with show-stopping hit songs including Rhythm Of Life, Big Spender and If They Could See Me Now.
The story follows Charity Hope Valentine, a dance club hostess in the Fandango Night Club, who just wants to be loved but keeps on falling for the wrong guy,
Finally, she meets Oscar, a shy guy who seems like her perfect man, but will he still love her when he discovers she has been lying to him?
The much-loved musical premiered on Broadway in 1966, where it was nominated for nine Tony Awards.
The company is made up of local talents from the area and will hope to shine for the audiences this week.
The lead role of Charity will be played by one of the theatre’s own, Lydia Marsh.
The budding young star has already performed in Blood Brothers, Into The Woods and West Side Story and hopes to add another feather to her cap with this production.
Sweet Charity will be at the Theatre Royal Bath, in Sawclose, at 7.30pm tonight and tomorrow night (Saturday). There will also be a matinee at 2.30pm on tomorrow.
