THE hit show Blood Brothers is set to become the first West End musical to be performed in Weston.
The play, written by Willy Russell, tells the captivating tale of two twins who are separated at birth.
Their lives run very different courses on opposite sides of the tracks.
Their two upbringings lead to a string of moving events with fateful consequences.
The show has been a massive hit in London’s West End, with Bill Kenwright’s production running for more than 10,000 shows throughout the years but now it is due to make a stop at Weston’s Playhouse.
The theatre will be undergoing some changes to accommodate the massive show for a full week in October, with the hope it will be the start of more big names coming to the town.
The Playhouse’s general manager, Mark Thompson, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Bill Kenwright Limited to bring arguably one of the best musicals to Weston.
“Blood Brothers will be the largest production in the history of The Playhouse and will see infrastructural changes to the building to allow the West End production to play here.
“A full week of eight performances this October is scheduled which will hopefully lead to the introduction of further large-scale shows in the future.
“I am and have always been a massive fan of Blood Brothers for many years, classic in its form I’m sure many emotions will be had by all those who attend and see the production within the intimate environment that The Playhouse offers, guaranteeing an opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the UK’s most celebrated musical productions.”
The show will be at The Playhouse in High Street in Weston from October 19-24 with shows at 7.30pm each evening and at 2.30pm on October 21 and 24.
