The final work of Jane Austen will be remade into a beautiful musical in Bristol next month.

The performance of the 18th-century author’s Persuasion marks the 200th anniversary of the author’s death and the publication of her final completed novel.

The Chicago Chamber Opera will perform songs from a number of Austen’s manuscripts as well as music from the era.

The book is creatively re-imaged through stunning Regency costumes, projected scenery and world–champion Irish dancers.

The audience will be able to experience the world of Austen through the rendering of her final novel which will transport people back in time.

Persuasion was published six months after her death and follows the story of Anne Elliot, a young woman whose family is trying desperately to escape from debt.

Persuasion will be at the Redgrave Theatre, in Percival Road, at 7.30pm on July 21.

Tickets, priced £12-15, are available from www.redgravetheatre.com
