THE touching tale of a young orphan and her dog Sandy will be staged at The Playhouse, Weston, this month.Youngsters from the Bristol School Of Performing Arts will appear in Annie from July 12-15.The story, set in 1993, tells of Annie as she desperately tries to find her parents so she can escape the clutches of the orphanage's matron Miss Hannigan.When Annie is chosen to spend Christmas with millionaire industrialist Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks she leaves the orphanage for the festive season. Touched by her story, Daddy Warbucks appeals for Annie's parents to come forward.Tempted by the financial reward, Hannigan's brother Rooster and his girlfriend Lily, join forces with Miss Hannigan to pose as Annie's real parents.However, when Annie's friends at the orphanage hear of the plans they race against time to save her.Annie, a family musical, is based on the book by Thomas Meehan.
