A BROADWAY disaster is not normally the desired outcome of a musical, unless it is deliberately intended to fail.Squeaky-voiced comedian Joe Pasquale is set to star as Leo Bloom in the Bristol Hippodrome presentation of the classic Mel Brooks musical The Producers, which tells the story of down on his luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock.Max and his hapless accountant Leo hatch the ultimate theatrical scam to raise more money than they need to produce a sure-fire Broadway disaster. They then plan to pocket the left over cash when their guaranteed-to-fail fiasco Sringtime for Hitler flops.The famous musical has won every major best new musical award including the Laurence Olivier, Evening Standard and Critics Circle awards, as well as the most Tony awards in Broadway history, a staggering 12 in total.The show will run from August 21-September 15.
