STUDENTS from Weston College will be starring in a modern musical entitled Pippin this week. The 38 cast members, who are all studying for BTEC national diplomas in performing arts, will be taking part in three shows on Wednesday, Thursday, and March 24 at The Blakehay in Wadham Street.Weston College head of performing arts, Michael Larsen-Disney, said: "The production is a modern musical comedy which has elements of rock, jazz and soul. "It is good fun and cutting edge, and will be a test and a challenge for the students to be involved in a musical of this kind."The musical, which was written by Stephen Swartz, is based in the middle ages but has a modern theme. It follows a young prince called Pippin in his journey to discover the secret of happiness and fulfilment. In the end he finds it in the simple pleasures of home and family.
