SHAKESPEARE fans look set to be impressed with a great line up of plays at the Theatre Royal Bath this summer.
As the curtain rises on the Peter Hall Company 2011 season, Desmond Barrit and David Yelland lead an impressive cast in Shakespeare’s great duo of plays, Henry IV part one and two.
This is the Peter Hall Company’s eighth season at the theatre and the performances will be shown until August 13.
The large cast for this epic drama features Barrit as Falstaff, a part for which he previously received an Olivier Award nomination, and Yelland as King Henry.
Thrilling, funny and majestic by turns, the plays are both a drama of family life and a great English epic, chronicling the complex relationships between fathers and sons, be they kings and princes, heroes or villains.
Henry IV encompasses the entire panorama of English life, from the sleazy taverns of Eastcheap to the stately splendour of the royal court, where the huge personalities range from Shakespeare’s greatest comic creation, Falstaff, to the schemer Hal and the dazzling and honour-obsessed Hotspur.
Both parts of Henry IV may be enjoyed independently or as part of a double-bill and will be shown regularly throughout the day.
