Alan Bennett's award-winning comedy Single Spies is touring to Bath, and stars Nicholas Farrell, Belinda Lang and David Robb.
The comedy has previously won an Olivier Award and arrives in the West Country for six shows at Bath’s Theatre Royal.
The show sparkles with Alan Bennett’s trademark wit and continues to delight audiences with its intriguing revelations about espionage and forgery.
Directed by Olivier Award-nominated Rachel Kavanaugh, the compelling satirical drama spans the globe from Moscow to London in two one-act plays, and reveals lives lived under cover of fraud and exile.
It is set in 1950s Moscow and tells the story of Coral Browne, who receives a surprise invitation to have lunch with Guy Burgess, a shunned Soviet spy.
The play chronicles the pair’s friendship, while charting Burgess’ desperate attempts to hold onto his life as a Soviet citizen. It engages the public’s fascination with espionage in the Cold War.
With matinees at the Sawclose theatre starting at 2.30pm on April 6 and 9 and evening performances every night at 7.30pm, it looks sure to be a production to enjoy.
Tickets, priced £18.50-34.50, are available from 01225 448844 or www.theatreroyal.org.uk
