MUSIC from swing greats Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Glenn Miller will make for a stunning night out at the Playhouse this month.
The Five Star Swing Big Band Show celebrates the legends of swing music like no other and you could be there free of charge thanks to the Mercury.
Weston will have its chance to experience the live show-stopping performances of the big jazz and blues band with its wonderful array of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists.
The band is led by composer Chris Smith Jnr whose credits include appearing at the Royal Variety Show and BBC’s Top Of The Pops.
Among his excellent group is trombonist Mike Innes whose CV boasts working alongside the likes of Gary Barlow, Elaine Page, Jools Holland, The Pet Shop Boys and Dame Shirley Bassey.
The Five Star Swing’s strengths though lie in its collective power and they have performed on BBC’s flagship Children in Need show.
Their visit on June 16 at 7.30pm will see a wealth of the greatest songs ever written played, including Chicago, Come Fly With Me and The Lady is a Tramp.
Tickets, priced £14-16, are available from the box office on 01934 645544 or online at www.theplayhouse.co.uk
The Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse to offer three lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show.
