The Secret Garden heading to the Wedmore stage
PUBLISHED: 14:00 19 January 2012
MIXING puppetry, live singing, an original soundtrack and a charming story, The Secret Garden is a theatre show take on Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic novel of the same name.
Wedmore Theatre Club and Take Art will be bringing the show to the stage on January 20.
The play tells the story of Mary Lennox, a spoilt orphan sent from India in 1899 to live with her uncle on the grey Yorkshire moors.
Mary then discovers a secret garden after the death of her aunt and is determined to find it.
As Mary battles loneliness, she encounters locked doors, a curious robin, hidden keys and strange cries ringing from down the corridor.
A story of friendship, determination and perseverance suitable for all ages over six, it promises to be a stand-out evening of family entertainment from Dorset theatre company Angel Exit Theatre.
The show is co-produced by Dorchester Arts and Bridport Arts Centre and funded by Arts Council England.
There will be a bar available on the evening.
The show starts at 7.30pm at Wedmore Village Hall.
Tickets, priced £5-9, are available from Liz McDonnell on 01934 712649.
