ONE of Britain's most famous actors is to lead two one-man Charles Dickens plays in Bath this month.

Simon Callow, who played Gareth in Four Weddings and a Funeral, brings his critically acclaimed Dr Marigold & Mr Chops show to the Theatre Royal next week.

The play tells the story of Dr Marigold, a travelling salesman who adopts a little deaf and dumb girl, and Mr Chops, a freak-show turn who wins the lottery and a place in society.

It follows the huge international success enjoyed by The Mystery of Charles Dickens which was performed in the West End, on Broadway and in Australia last year.

Simon is a familiar name to fans of stage and screen having performed a wealth of different roles varying from appearing in Waiting for Godot alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, Doctor Who and recently becoming a judge on Popstar to Operastar.

The show will run from Monday for six nights. Tickets start from £16.50 and can be purchased from the box office on 01225 448844 or by logging onto www.theatreroyal.org.uk
