LIONEL Blair will be performing at Weston's Playhouse in August - and told the Mercury how much he is looking forward to it.
The actor, tap dancer and television presenter rose to fame when his dance troupe appeared on a number of television variety shows in the 1960s.
He is now playing a starring role in The Good Old Days.
He told the Mercury: “I am so looking forward to it. It’s a lovely place. I’ve never performed in Weston before. I think it’s our first date so I hope it goes well.
“I went to Weston for a charity thing once a long time ago but I have played Bristol a lot.
“It’s an entertainment show older people can come to and enjoy. It’s familiarity – that’s what they love about it.
“It’s totally interactive. We break down the fourth wall and are not just playing to ourselves. They are totally involved.
“When we get to the chorus, we say ‘join in’ and they do and it’s a lovely feeling.”
Lionel Blair will be performing in The Good Old Days at The Playhouse on August 26 at 7.30pm.
Tickets, priced £21.50, are available from www.theplayhouse.co.uk or the box office on 01934 645544.
n The Mercury has teamed up with the producers to offer two pairs of tickets to the show.
