Weston-super-Mare’s newest restaurant – Brunello Lounge – will open today, and Mercury readers are being treated to a first look inside the cosy retreat.
The Loungers group is a West Country chain with restaurants in Bristol, Clevedon, Bournemouth and Exeter – and it has now added Weston to its list of delicious eateries.
Brunello Lounge, which has been named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel, has set up home in the former Seven nightclub and transformed the space to have a cosy, retro vibe.
The restaurant is in Beach Road, opposite the Grand Pier, and its opening has created 25 jobs in Weston and the building has now become a family-friendly sanctuary.
The restaurant chain is famous for its hearty brunches, tapas, burgers and macaroni and cheese.
It also offers a range of cocktails for people to enjoy as a treat any night of the week.
Brunello Lounge has been filled with eclectic artwork – including a large mural depicting Brunel, who has strong links to the West Country and is believed to have spent time in Weston.
The furniture is a mixture of quirky, pop-art inspired tabletobs which sit next to comfortable vintage sofas and old school benches.
The restaurant also has a community book exchange area and a community noticeboard for people to publicise events in the town.
The Brunello Lounge team will also be hosting regular fundraising events for community groups in the area.
